No one really knows what the future actually holds for us. I believe it is about our own expectations for ourselves and others that we try to fulfill. We have expectations for all types of things within our life. Mainly there are a few things that I would like to fulfill within the next few years.
One of my expectations for the future is to be able to help out my parents with the family business. My parents own a Beauty Saloon on 14th Street and I want to help them out in all aspects of the business, such as the financials and also working there and managing what is going on. I am helping out now but not as much as I personally think I can help them out. In order to make this vision reality, I would have to fist learn the trade and get my licenses in order for me to physically work there without any worry and also have to actually learn what to do and how to do it. I can learn this by taking classes and then taking the exams for licensing. For the financials, the education I am getting at Baruch can be applied to the business.
I don't know when this vision will be completed, but I would like to help out the needy. I know that each day we can do a part in helping them out but I want to set up a fund that gives to the needy. I plan on doing that by making investments in a company, or creating one that will be focused mainly on helping the people in need. I have no yet thought the full details of how to accomplish this vision but I know for sure that I need an education and I need to be able to see what I actually want the end results to be like.
The third thing I would like to accomplish in the future is to be able to read and write in Hindi and Punjabi. It is not that much of a long term goal, but if I actually think about it, for me it is. It is because it takes a while to master and become perfect at learning certain things because you need dedication and time. I am willing to be dedicated to learning but what I don't have now is time. I don't have the time to be fully focused on what I want to accomplish, so it would be a long term vision – to see myself actually being able to read and write in Hindi and Punjabi. In order to get there I must plan out my way and find time in order to figure out what I am actually going to be doing.
Some visions that people have for the future are easily reachable while others require a lot of work. I believe most importantly that being dedicated will lead to good results from what you are trying to accomplish along with being patient and willing to make mistakes. For me, I know I must make mistakes in order for me to grasp and learn how to progress. Such as in the case of being able to manage the business, if I don't make mistakes now in the future I might not be able to handle them with a calm rational mind. So, I also vision myself to learn from the mistakes that I make either on purpose or accident.
I think you have very noble goals by wanting to help your parents business, give to the needy, and learn how to write your parents languages.
ReplyDeleteI think these goals are great, but maybe you should focus on more goals of what you want to do for yourself rather than what you want to do for others! Just food for thought =P
Nevertheless, good luck on your goals! Hopefully your vision will become true one day.
I agree with the post above. These are very noble goals indeed. Actually more people should have goals as selfless as yours maybe this world would be a better place. Good luck with everything
ReplyDeletestarting your own investment company sounds like a great vision and i believe that is the one you should follow. your third vision, to me anyway, seems really short term and accomplishable so you shouldnt worry about that one too mcuh.
